The Cube Globe
The Cube Globe project launched at the 2014 G20 Leaders' Summit, hosted by Brisbane, promotes Queensland's valuable trade and investment opportunities in a state-of-the-art digital earth visualisation engine. The project features the State government's renowned open data collection as well as high-resolution satellite imagery, interactive animations, and integrated multimedia for visitors to explore, discover and share.
Developed by the QUT Visualisation and eResearch team (ViseR) in partnership with the Queensland Government, the project has continued to develop and plays a key role in QUT's research, teaching, and engagement activities.
Beyond QUT, the project supports community outreach and research for Seqwater, South-East Queensland's water infrastructure provider, The South Australian Department of State Development's promotion of manufacturing technology and innovation, and is contributing to projects dedicated to conservation of the Great Barrier Reef.
The Cube Globe is now being adapted for educational purposes, helping communities realise their place in the world and meet the challenges of the future. Another way QUT research is using technology to advance change.
