Mathias Jud & Christoph Wachter
The collaborative team of Christoph Wachter & Mathias Jud will engage in a nine week residency at QUT Creative Industries Precinct as part of Move On: European Media Artists in Residence Exchange.
The duo will develop their project Landung in Australien at The Block. Landung in Australien looks at the plight and living conditions of refugees and illegal immigrants attempting to come to Australia via boat.
Key projects include:
Zone*Interdite - French for restricted military zone, Zone*Interdite caused a sensation by uncovering the existence of a children's prisons in several contentious prison camps. The project collected and re-contextualised readily available propaganda material to create a 3D walk-through of the camps, questioning concepts of power and powerlessness.
[ o ] picidae - explores the borders of our individual perception. The Internet becomes at the same time the medium as well as the object of exploration. picidae delivers clickable images of HTML web pages circumventing redirects, ranking, rating, filtering and censorship. picidae has been used in China, Iran, Dubai and North African countries to view web pages, making things visible in a new way.
qaul.net - implements a redundant, open communication principle, in which wireless-enabled computers and mobile devices can directly form a spontaneous network. Chat, twitter functions and movie streaming is possible independent of internet and cellular networks. qaul.net can spread like a virus, and an Open Source Community can modify it freely.
