Join us for an extra dose of fun at the official opening of Draw It. Code It. | QUT Summer Holiday Program.
For one day only we will be presenting a range of special events including workshops and guest speaker interviews with the talented TV host, Lee Constable.
Activities from the Draw It. Code It. | QUT Summer Holiday Program will also run throughout the day including Design a bot, Sphero obstacle course, Code Coach and a hands-on Maker Space.

FAST FIVE: CHATS WITH LEE CONSTABLE
Lee Constable takes five to chat with a fascinating line-up of guest speakers and uncovers fun facts about robots, games and tech in a series of fun and fast interviews. Guest speakers include Professor Michael Milford from Australian Centre for Robotic Vision, design expert and gamification researcher Doctor Fitz-Walter, Artistic Associate from Dead Puppet Society Helen Stephens and Samuel Ashcroft and Lindsay Watt from RAWrobotics.

ON THE SPOT: LEE CONSTABLE CHATS WITH SIMON HARRISON
In this pop-up interview, Lee Constable chats to Simon Harrison from the Cube Studio about the creation of the interactive game, Code-A-Bot. Lee and Simon talk about how the game was developed, what you need to know to code the robots, and Simon will share tips and tricks for improving the efficiency of this fictional recycling plant!

Experience an immersive video game and drive a remote control tank!
Through VR, players become tank Commanders and drive around the real world to deliver vital intel to soldiers. Will you shovel coal into the furnace to keep up speed or go slow and steady – the choice is yours! Whatever you decide, the intel is only valid for so long and time is of the essence!

SHADOW PUPPET WORKSHOP WITH THE DEAD PUPPET SOCIETY
Create and perform with your own shadow puppet character in this hands-on workshop. Construct and personalise your puppet in the maker space, then learn the elements of Focus, Breath and Gravity to bring your puppet to life in performance! Led by Helen Stephens, Artistic Associate at The Dead Puppet Society, this fun-filled workshop introduces the magical world of puppetry and provides opportunities to make, play and perform.
In their quest to reawaken the art of puppetry, The Dead Puppet Society is a production house and design company which creates eclectic puppet-based visual theatre in Australia and the United States.

DRAW IT. CODE IT. | QUT SUMMER HOLIDAY PROGRAM
An exciting family holiday program featuring a diverse mix of interactive activities to suit the tech-inclined and those who love to draw, play and create at The Cube and QUT Art Museum.
The Cube will present a free, hands-on summer holiday program for kids and families to sharpen their tech skills, tinker with innovative new learning tools at the drop-in Maker Space, discover robot and recycling facts with a roving Treasure Hunt, and learn the basics of robotics at The Cube's latest interactive project Code-A-Bot and at our fun Sphero obstacle course.
Drop in to QUT Art Museum any time from 10am to 4pm to get crafty and creative. Draw a self-portrait, become a character in our dress-up zone or create, perform and play with your own shadow puppets! Be inspired by the exhibition Portray and Play featuring portraits from major Dutch photographers Hendrik Kerstens and Erwin Olaf, and works from the QUT Art Collection.
