QUT’s Young Accelerators Program (formerly STEM for Schools) has been running since 2013 and is committed to inspiring the next generation of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) leaders. The program provides meaningful STEM experiences for Year 7 to 12 students regardless of background, gender, academic level or location. The program is a Vice-Chancellor's initiative which sits within Marketing and Communications.
Young Accelerators promotes and facilitates a range of student experiences to increase engagement in STEM both online and in-person. The program offers fully funded on-campus workshops which encompass interaction through The Cube. The program also runs a range of events such as the annual QUT STEM Camp and High School Research Internships to help schools understand the importance of STEM skills and the broad range of future study and career opportunities that STEM offers.
